Terms of Service
The terms governing use of the SAIESA platform.
Last updated: September 1, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By registering for or using the SAIESA member platform (saiesa.org), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't register or use the member features — the public pages remain available to everyone regardless.
2. Who can join
Membership is intended for alumni (and, for relevant programs, current students) of St. Andrews Institute. New registrations are reviewed and approved by a committee admin before full member access is granted — this keeps the community genuinely alumni-based. We may decline or revoke membership where eligibility can't be reasonably confirmed, or for conduct that violates these terms.
3. Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account.
- Provide accurate information when registering and keep your profile reasonably up to date.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
- One account per person — don't register on behalf of someone else without their knowledge.
4. Acceptable use
When using the feed, chat, job board, directory, or idea submissions, you agree not to:
- Post unlawful, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or sexually explicit content.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with St. Andrews Institute.
- Post spam, scams, or unauthorized advertising (the job board is for genuine opportunities).
- Attempt to access another member's account, a chat room you weren't invited to, or any admin-only area.
- Upload content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy.
- Use the platform to collect other members' personal information for purposes outside the community (e.g. bulk-scraping the directory).
- Interfere with the platform's normal operation (e.g. attempting to bypass rate limits or storage quotas).
5. Content you post
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting to the feed, chat, directory, job board, or idea submissions, you give SAIESA a license to store, display, and distribute that content within the platform as needed to provide the service (e.g. showing your post to other members). You're responsible for having the rights to anything you upload.
Each member has a shared storage allowance across all their feed media combined (currently 5MB total, configurable by SAIESA as the platform grows). Uploads that would exceed your allowance will be rejected.
6. Moderation
Admins and Support Admins may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or in serious cases permanently remove an account that violates these terms or otherwise harms the community — permanent removal and role changes are Admin-only actions. We'll use judgment and try to be proportionate, but reserve the right to act to protect the community.
7. Chat
Chat rooms are invite-only. Messages you send are visible to other members of that specific room. Don't share anything in chat you wouldn't want seen by everyone with access to that room — moderators can view rooms for moderation purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Donations
Donations made to SAIESA are voluntary contributions, not payments for goods or services, and are generally non-refundable except where required by law or at the committee's discretion. Payment processing (once integrated) is handled by a third-party provider under its own terms.
9. Availability and changes
SAIESA is a volunteer-run platform. We aim for the service to be reliably available but don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may add, change, or remove features over time. We'll try to give notice of significant changes where practical.
10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The platform is provided "as is." SAIESA is a volunteer-run alumni association, not a commercial service, and we make no warranties about uptime, fitness for a particular purpose, or the accuracy of user-submitted content (e.g. job postings or event details). To the fullest extent permitted by law, SAIESA and its volunteers aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the platform.
11. Termination
You may stop using the platform and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms, per the moderation section above.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, with Goa courts having jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
13. Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let members know directly.
